Khadra was born in Somalia. In the late 80’s, her family moved to Italy to gain a better life. Towards the early 90s, they then decided to come to Canada. Along the way, they stopped in Jamaica and New York. After much consideration, her family shortly realized that Ottawa was where they wanted to call home.
Khadra came to Canada with no conversational English. At the time, she only spoke Somali, Arabic and Italian. She came to Canada determined and eager to make a difference. After highschool graduation, Khadra followed her dream to move to Toronto to become the first university graduate of her refugee family.
Her passion and goal is to share her story, the Canadian stories that are unheard and to make those who feel alone welcome and seen.
“I want to be that platform people can go to that I never had.”
Khadra wants you to be heard. She wants you to feel part of her circle. She wants to speak loud and proud for those that are unable to do so for themselves. She is a natural-born story teller. Come along for the ride!
